Maryland Vision Institute, one of Western Maryland’s leading eye care providers, has been providing comprehensive eye care and surgery for over 20 years. Our goal is to provide excellence in vision care with compassion.

The doctors at Bergman Eye Center are very experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye care, eyelid problems, and dry eye as well as prescribing glasses and contacts.

On June 9, 2012 our founding physician, Dr. Erik Bergman passed away after a short battle with cancer. Dr Bergman was one of the top cataract surgeons in Maryland, having done thousands of surgical and laser procedures.

In October of 2012 Augustus “Gus” Stern, M.D, joined our practice as the new Medical Director. Dr. Stern, is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract, cornea, glaucoma, oculoplastic, refractive and LASIK surgery as well as general ophthalmology. He brings years of compassionate care and a history of vision excellence to our practice.

We strongly believe Dr. Stern will continue our legacy as one of Western Maryland’s leading eye care providers, and we warmly welcome him to the practice.

In 2008, Bergman Eye Center opened Physician’s Surgery Center to provide patients with the very best in surgical and laser care.

Bergman Eye Center continues to expand our services and technology to provide most advanced and excellent eye care available in the tri-state area.
