This annual event, sponsored by The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is designed to raise awareness about communication disorders and to promote treatment that can improve the quality of life for those who experience problems with speech, understanding, or hearing.

Eyes & Ears-We treat them both! In 2011 Bergman Eye Center launched Hearing Services. We offer comprehensive hearing testing, performed in a sound room by our licensed Clinical Audiologist, Betty Moss,M.S.,CCC/A.

What is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is an eye disease in which the optic nerve is damaged in a characteristic pattern. This can permanently damage vision in the affected eye(s) and lead to blindness if left untreated. It is normally associated with increased fluid pressure in the eye.

“A cataract is a clouding that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its envelope (lens capsule), varying in degree from slight to complete opacity and obstructing the passage of light.”

Dr. Sunil Thadani, Board Certified Ophthalmologist, at Bergman Eye Center, was the guest expert on 03/13/12 on the Meritus “Health Matters” live radio show. He discussed Cataracts at length and answered important questions listeners had regarding Cataracts.

Bergman Eye Center-Finalist for the “Leading Edge Award” at the Washington County 13th Annual Business Awards

On February 29th, 2012 the Washington County Chamber of Commerce held their 13th Annual Business Awards. Bergman Eye Center was one of three finalists in the “Leading Edge Award” category.

Bergman Eye Center has brought significant advancement in technology in the area of Ophthalmology. Dr. Sunil Thadani, Board Certified Ophthalmologist at Bergman Eye Center, performed Washington County’s first Descemet Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSEK) procedure in November 2010. (A DSEK is a partial Cornea transplant.)

January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month

This event is designed to raise public awareness of about this “sneak thief of sight”. More than 2 million Americans 40 and older suffer from glaucoma, and nearly half do not know that they have the disease because it causes no early symptoms.

Dr. Thadani is highlighted in The Herald Mail discussing Glaucoma and the importance of of regular eye examinations.
